So now you know what throwing could do for you, what exactly are the throws?
The throws are a group of events which aims to see which competitors can throw the furthest and are contested in the Track and Field Meets .
Javelin
The Javelin simply, at its most heaviest form an 800 gram spear.

The Javelin thrower must accelerate down a 20 meter runway and throw the implement as far as possible by the end of the runway. After throwing the Javelin, the thrower must be careful not to step across the edge of the line set at the end of the 20 meter runway, as stepping on it will mean his or her throw will be registered as a foul. Spectators often stand at awe of the Javelin as it sails through the air, cutting through the wind as it goes.
Shot Put
The Shot put is a 16lbs (7.26kg) ball made out of metal.
The Shot putter has two different techniques they could utilize to throw the Shot put as far as possible and that is the glide and rotation.

Whatever technique the practitioner chooses, he or she must utilize all their power to heave the ball as far as possible within the confines of a 2.135m long circle. Shot putters usually are the most aggressive and "hyped-up" throwers of the group as throwing a 16lbs metal ball requires tremendous amounts of energy. This aspect makes the Shot put superbly entertaining, as the aggression of the competitors seems to be very "primal".

Discus
The Discus is a 2kg circular disc and can be made of differing materials, such as metal or wood.

The Discus thrower, similar to the shot putter, uses the rotational technique to throw the Discus as far as possible. They have a 2.5 meter circle to work with. Discus throwers are usually the tallest of the bunch, as having a longer wingspan will greatly contribute to a further throw, but that does not mean to say that shorter throwers cannot be successful in this event.
In hindsight it might seem that to be a good thrower you need to focus being bulky and muscular, that is simply not true.
A good thrower is one who understands that the power and strength he possesses must be harmoniously utilized by the technique of throwing. This means that one cannot simply rely on brute force, but must also learn how to control his or her movements with grace and aggression. A balance must exist and the practitioner must spend time mastering the technique of the throws in order to excel at it.
